Heavy Selvedge Organic Denim (15 oz): A Sanforised DRY DENIM with the Classic Red and White Selvedge Edges
This heavy Selvedge denim in a rich indigo blue is a true highlight for enthusiasts of high-quality and sustainable denim fabrics. With a weight of 15 ounces (oz) per square yard, or approximately 510 g/m², it provides a robust and durable foundation for your creative projects.
This very heavy organic denim is a dry denim. With its firm handle, it is ideal for long-lasting jeans, jackets, and bags. This denim is non-stretch and, thanks to its firm and robust structure, is particularly hard-wearing.
This deep blue denim fabric is made from pure organic cotton, grown according to strict ecological standards, and has been produced according to GOTS criteria. However, the fabric does not carry a final certificate as my shop, being the last operation in the supply chain, is not GOTS certified.
Selvedge Edge
- The characteristic Selvedge edge is a sign of the highest quality and traditional weaving. It features a red stripe on a white background and is located on both sides of the fabric width.
- It prevents fraying of the fabric and gives your garments a sophisticated look. Therefore, it is often used visibly, for example, by turned-up trouser hems.
Raw Denim with Sanforisation for Individual Patina
- The denim fabric is not pre-washed and is therefore a RAW denim. At the same time, it is sanforised, which guarantees minimal shrinkage values (0% width, 0.3% length) and stabilises the fit.
- The denim is dyed in a deep, classic indigo blue that develops a beautiful patina over time. This type of dyeing is very traditional and gives the denim a very high-quality look.
- Thanks to sanforisation, the denim shrinks only minimally on first wash. You can cut and process it without pre-washing, as the fit is preserved. At the same time, the raw denim allows for individual washes and fading effects. Each garment develops an individual wear pattern over time! The fabric also becomes softer and lighter with each wash.

My Most Important Expert Tips for Gentle Care
- Always wash denim before use or cutting so that it shrinks to its final size.
- Select a short delicates cycle or the wool programme at a maximum of 30° C.
- Use a laundry detergent without optical brighteners. For dark indigo, add a splash of vinegar essence to fix the colour.
- Spin at a maximum of 400 rpm or not at all to prevent washing streaks.
